AN OPENING WITH A FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE

The Exhibition Center of the International Federation of Photographic Art (Recognized by UNESCO) Oradea – Romania, the “Euro Foto Art” Gallery within the Princely Palace of the Medieval Fortress of Oradea, Building E, has been hosting since Monday an exceptional photographic art exhibition organized by the International Association “Euro Foto Art” (AIEFA) and Summit Agro Romania in partnership with the Oradea Local Tourism Promotion Association (APTOR). On the walls of the longest-running permanent photographic art gallery in Romania, 92 high-quality color photographs by the photographic artist Marian Plaiano EFIAPg from Bucharest were installed under the title “Street view” (“Street photography”). The exhibited photographs can be viewed on the AIEFA website: https://eurofotoart.ro/personala-marian-plaino-efiaps-bucuresti-vedere-stradala/

The opening of the exhibition took place in the presence of the author and his wife, on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 18:00, in the “Matei Stegerean” Gallery within the Princely Palace of the Medieval Fortress of Oradea. The audience present at the event was welcomed by the photographic artist Ștefan Tóth István AFIAP, ESFIAP, president of AIEFA and curator of the exhibition, who emphasized in his speech: “Today we opened an exceptional exhibition, which demonstrated that photographic art has a very complex language of expression, as well as the important role of the person behind the camera! Marian truly feels the camera and senses the pulse of the street, where a continuous spectacle takes place that very few notice. This exhibition proved that photographic art is the only form of expression within the great family of visual arts that can capture the story of a fraction of a second… It is to be appreciated that the author of the exhibition demonstrated through his works the important role that light plays in his creations.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ramona Novicov, art historian and critic, appreciated the fact that “Behind the exhibited images there are true stories captured in different European cities, but especially in Asia. Marian’s images did not fall into the trap of the picturesque; instead, they carry an aura of European and Asian mystery.”

The exhibiting photographic artist presented the context in which the displayed images were created, as well as his achievements as a photographic artist, stating: “Since 2016, I have won over 750 awards in 60 countries and hold 5 trophies and 11 ‘Best Author’ titles. Recently, I returned from Saint Petersburg (RUSS), where I won first place in Photolympic – street photography. A series of my works have appeared in ‘Photo Magazine’ (F), ‘Geo’ (D), ‘National Geographic Traveller’ (GB), and ‘The Times’ (GB). I love photographing the street because it is full of stories. I capture interesting faces. In my travels I look for markets, cemeteries, train stations, museums, spaces where people and stories gather. I like to remain unnoticed and wait, to build the frame directly in the camera, in the perfect light.”

At the end of the opening, the AIEFA president handed the exhibiting photographic artist a Certificate of Patronage of the Association. The musical moments of the opening were provided by Thurzó Sándor József, viola artist, representative of the Sola Fide Community and Cultural Association (SFKKE), who performed the following pieces: “Lullaby” by Zeno Vancea (on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the composer’s death), “Melody” by Liana Alexandra Șerbescu, “Ballad” by Ciprian Porumbescu, and “Din drâmboaie” by Hilda Jerea.

The exhibited photographs will also be shown on the screens of modern public transport vehicles in Oradea, thanks to the protocol signed between AIEFA and OTL SA. The exhibition will remain open to the visiting public until October 3, 2025, on working days between 08:00 – 16:00, with free admission!
