Romanian and Hungarian Culture Week

Considering that the 15th of January is the National Culture Day and the 22nd of January is the Hungarian Culture Day, the management of the International Association “Euro Foto Art” decided in partnership with Summit Agro Romania to dedicate this week to the culture of the two countries. In this context, on Monday, 15 January 2024, the opening ceremony of the 12th edition of the Euro Agro Cultural Week will take place at 11:00 am in the EFA Exhibition Centre, “Matei Stegerean” Gallery in the E Building, ground floor of the Medieval Fortress of Oradea. of the International Festival of Photography “Carol Pop de Szathári – Szathmári Pap Károly”, organized under the auspices of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), recognized by UNESCO. During the festivities dedicated to the National Culture Day there will be the opening and the festive handing over of the International Exhibition entitled “What are you swinging, codrule”, organised in partnership with the Bihor Culture Directorate. The guests of honour of the event are the students of the “Emanuil Gojdu” National College from Oradea. For the first edition of the competition, the organisers received 362 images taken by photographers from the USA, Serbia, Malta, Moldova, Romania, Ukraine and Hungary. The jury consisted of Dr. Patricia Știrbu, President of “Summit Agro” Romania, Bulgaria, Adria and Republic of Moldova, photographer Ștefan Tóth István AFIAP, ESFIAP, president of the jury and Andrei Borbely, Executive Director of DJCBh represented by Prof. Anca Mile, director of the National College of Photography of Romania. Also on Monday at 18:00, also in the “Matei Stegerean” Gallery, there will be a presentation of vintage images by the Oradea collector Constantin Liviu Demeter, honorary member of CFNO, as part of the cycle “Stories at the mouth of the stove”, organized in partnership with the Photographic Club “Nufărul” Oradea (CFNO). He, a historian by profession, has been collecting postcards from Oradea since the age of 15. On a video projector, 100 images of our city will be presented through powerpoint. The presentation, entitled “The Art of Oradea’s Photographers” will cover the entire 20th century, in which we will discover the first photographic achievements of buildings such as the Town Hall, the State Theatre, the Black Eagle Palace, the Baroque Palace, the Union Square, Republicii Street, and many other buildings and places in the historic centre of Oradea. On Friday, 19 January 2024, at 18:00, the exhibition opening and the festive awarding of the International Competition of Romanian and Hungarian Photographers from All Over the World will take place in the “Mezey Lajos” Gallery. On this occasion, 86 photographs by Romanian and Hungarian photographers from Austria, Czech Republic, France, Malta, Moldova, Serbia, Spain, Romania, Ukraine and Hungary will be exhibited. The exhibited images can also be viewed on the AIEFA website. Finally, on Sunday, January 21 at 11:00, in the EFA Exhibition Centre, “Ștefan Vilidár István” Gallery, in the presence of the author, will take place the opening of the personal exhibition of the photographer Bontovics Ilona from Békéscsaba / Bichișciaba (HU), dedicated to the Day of Hungarian Culture. On this occasion, 43 black and white and colour photographs with various themes will be exhibited. The exhibited images can also be viewed on the AIEFA website. The musical moments of the opening will be offered by the representative of the Cultural Group “Duo Sola Fide” from Oradea, the violin artist Thurzó Sándor József, who will perform several pieces from the Romanian and Hungarian repertoire. The exhibitions organized in partnership with the Association for the Promotion of Tourism in Oradea and Region will remain open to the public until 14 February 2023, on Mondays, Wednesdays from 14:00 to 18:00 and Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 to 14:00. It is worth mentioning that some of the photographs exhibited in the showcases of the E Building of the Medieval Fortress of Oradea can be viewed daily between 08:00 – 20:00. The exhibited works will also be projected on the screens of the means of transport of Oradea, thanks to the protocol concluded between AIEFA and OTL SA.
